Duration: 4 hours.

We demolished our way through the ceiling to see the structure holding up the roof of a historic Charleston Single house. Sometimes the only way to figure out what we can change is to actually go out there and smash through ceilings. Today we discovered that a part of the structure was added on at a later point, and this will likely affect the design interventions that we propose.

Once I'm back I worked on adding more details to the elevation drawings.

Tasks completed: on-site demolition and investigations, elevations

AXP credits: TBD

Project: Foundry Alley 81 Nassau St

Location: 81 Nassau St, Charleston, SC

Type: residential

Phase: design

Breaking through ceilings just to see the roof structure: Jonathan shows me how it's done.

"Just as we suspected", says Jonathan.

"This structure was definitely added at a later point."
