Perry Hammond - Week Six

This week I became involved on a very exciting project. MPS has been hired by the current owners of the Citadel Mall in West Ashley to do masterplanning for the redevelopment of the entire complex. Tom Hund, the Charleston office director, is leading the project while two others and myself will be working to produce drawings and rendering. I have never been a part of a project of this scale, stage, or type so I feel lucky to be a part of it. Our first deadline is early next week, so its already been a busy, fast paced project. It is neat, though, to see how schematic design works and what the goals are. I have learned how integrated and central the client is on this stage of the design process. The more we know about the client and their vision, the more informed our decisions can be.
