Perry Hammond - Week Eleven

This week was very productive, diverse, and challenging - all aspects that I really enjoy. I got to wrap up my part in the Florence-Darlington Tech Culinary school and got introduced to the Charleston Waterfront Hotel project. These two projects are very different in a number of ways, and this distinction was what really taught me a lot this week. For example, where both buildings are going to be built there is an existing building there now. However, the nature, circulation, views and location of each site is totally different and have dictated a different approach to their designs. I have also noticed how the jurisdiction of the BAR has affected the waterfront hotel, while the FDTC displays a bolder, more contemporary design.
