In addition to working on the presentation for public housing solutions on the Charleston peninsula, I attended a meeting with the public to further discuss how to address the rising sea levels at the low battery. There was an introduction from the mayor, a presentation given by Jacob Lindsay, a short Q&A from the public and then we broke out into smaller groups to get more focused feedback. I have never been to a meeting like this before and it was really interesting to hear the opinions of the public, especially the ones who actually live on or near the battery. It was also interesting to see how city officials respond to opposition on the project. I am realizing that Charleston is a very delicate city in terms of how things get built. I have included some images of the meeting at Memminger auditorium and some of the design concepts they presented.
