Julian Owens - Week 8

This week I think the most interesting thing I took away was a very clean detail for a circular, reinforced, wooden handrail. The handrail is about 30 ft long, and it's only supported by structure every 5 ft, which obviously doesn't keep the handrail sturdy enough. So, Nick, the shop guy, designed and fabricated the wooden handrail with steel running through the middle of it. It's a handrail with enough structure to support itself. I thought it was a cool detail.
