Hours worked: 4

Tasks completed: Ran calculations of impervious surface area for a private residence in the Isle of Palms; the client is requesting adding a small in-ground pool in their back yard facing the water, but there is an existing zoning requirement of a 35% maximum impervious area. I was asked to run a calcualtion based on a survey to see if there was enough pervious area that we could add a pool.

Decks, steps, and porches that have a gap in the floor finish material can be counted towards 50% impervious surface area instead of 100%; even proposing their existing masonry pavers in the front, their front steps, and their back deck and steps at 50% there was still too much impervious area; the calculation ran to 39% impervious area. If the client wants to add a pool, they will have to demolish some of their existing impervious area to get below the required limit. I would recommend removing their wide looping masonry area and having a single drive with the rest of the front of their property planted for pervious area.

I also continued interior elevations of a private residence in Sullivan's Island.
