AXP HOURS: Site Visit

Today I got a chance to visit the MUSC Children’s Hospital site. It is one of the biggest project that McMillan Charleston office has been working on for a long time. The construction started 18 months ago. Mcmillan tied up at the CD set with P+W for this project. The day started with a presentation by the project architect and manager on BIM technology that is being used to manage all the site executions. The entire project was converted into BIM by the contractors. Every duct and pipe in the project is prefabricated off the site and directly installed. This is made possible because of the super precise BIM model developed which helps everyone to make sure there are no clashes and errors at site. Later we went for the tour where as a group we were shown all the floors, this site visit was a team visit with many senior employees of MPS. All made sure to keep pointing out small details that were enlightening all through the visit. All in all, it was one of the best days of my internship.
